Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
Category 1 (irreversible effects on the eye) based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The substance is irritant/corrosive to the eye
Executive summary:

An in vivo test was conducted according to the EU B.5 test method (92/69/EEC) to assess the eye irritating effects
of the test material Scarlet Der 8107 (EC 429-070-4). Three individuals of New Zealand white rabbit were tested with the selected dose of 1 mg and the effects were recorded according to Draize’s scoring system for the first 24, 48 and 72 hours after treatment: no positive response was observed but reversible orange staining of iris and cornea and irreversible staining of conjunctive and sclera.
Therefore, for its irreversible staining effects, Scarlet Der 8107 (EC 429-070-4) was considered an eye irritant (category 1).
