Description of key information

The pKa of calcium formate was measured to be 3.79 at 20 oC in a study run to OECD 112. This correlates well with the conjugating acid, formic acid, which has a pKa of 3.75.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

pKa at 20°C:
3.8

Additional information

The acid constant for calcium diformate as determined according to OECD TG 112 is 3.79 at 20°C, which is equal to the acid constant of the conjugating acid, formic acid, which has a pKa of 3.75 (Perstorp, 2010).
