Additional information

Hydrolysis:

In accordance with Annex VIII section 9.2.2.1 column 2 a study on hydrolysis is not necessary, because methyl acetate is readily biodegradable.

Atmospheric phototransformation:

Based on the calculation according to SRC AOP v1.92, methyl acetate is indirectly photodegraded by reaction with hydroxyl radicals in the atmosphere with a half-life (t1/2) of about 62 days taking into account a 24-h day and a mean OH radical concentration of 5.0E+05 molecules per cm³ (BASF 2010).
