Description of key information

The EC50 based on growth rate was determined to be > 120 mg/L. The NOEC based on

growth rate as well as on biomass was 120 mg/L. Testorganism was Scenedesmus subspicatus.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
120 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
120 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity of methyl acetate to algae was tested in a static test system for a test period of 72 h according to OECD 201. Scenedesmus subspicatus was the test organism. The test was conducted as a limit test with a test concentration of 120 mg/L. The EC50based on growth rate was determined to be > 120 mg/L, based on nominal values. The NOEC based on growth rate as well as on biomass was 120 mg/L.

Key values actaully are "> 120 mg/l" each, but IUCLID does not allow to enter ">" in these fields.

A study with marine water algae is not available.
