Description of key information

With high probability 1,3,5-trioxane is not acute harmful to aquatic invertebrates.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acute toxicity of 1,3,5 -trioxane to aquatic invertebrates was investigated in two studies. The Frauenhofer institute (1989) reported no toxicity to Daphnia magna in the highest tested concentration (1000 mg/L). Walton and Davis determined in a report to Celanese Chemical Comp. Inc. a LC50 (48 h) of 15200 mg/L using the same species. Therefore, with high probability 1,3,5-trioxane is not acute harmful to aquatic invertebrates.
