Additional information

The acute toxicity of n/i-C13 -C15 –aldehydes was tested compliant with GLP in a valid OECD TG 203 (1992) assay using zebra fish (Brachydanio rerio), using Tween 80 as emusifier. The analytically verified concentrations were 0, 0.4, 0.9, and 1.6 mg/L. A solvent control with emulsifier Tween 80 was included.

After 96 hours mortality was 0, 71, and 100% in groups exposed to the low (0.4 mg/L mean measured), intermediate (0.9 mg/L mean measured), and high (1.6 mg/L mean measured) test concentration. The LC50(96 hrs)was >0.4 mg/L and <0.9 mg/L in this study (Hoechst, 1994). For the purpose of assessing the PNEC, the 96 -h LC50 was recalculated by forming the geometric mean of the 96 -h LC0 and LC100. This resulted in a 96 -h LC50 of 0.8 mg/L.

This study is considered to be valid and useful for assessment.
