Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Sebacic acid is classified as readily biodegradable. In a DOC removal test according to ISO 7827 the biodegradation of sebacic acid was investigated [BASF AG, 1990]. After 7 days 98 % degradation was determined. Additionally a study on biodegradation of sebacic acid in seawater was conducted according to OECD 306 [BASF SE, 2009]. With a biodegradation of 89 % after 28 days this test confirms the previous result.
