Additional information

All the literature has been reviewed in the RAR, 2008.

For the purpose of REACH only the study without solvent from Dumpert and Kietz (1984) has been kept as a key study.

Authors showed that a repeated weekly exposure during 200 days at an (over) saturated concentration of 2 mg/L (measured) induce a delay in the development of tadpole (The developmental time was doubled compared to the control). The pigmentation of the frog was also affected. This effect was not quantified. Hence, the LOEC from this study is 2 mg/l and the NOEC is < 2 mg/l. However a single dose of DEHP did not cause any effect.

But since the reported effect concentration is above both the true and the apparent water solubility and no NOEC could be determined, it cannot be used in order to derive a PNEC water for this risk assessment. No conclusions can be drawn from this study concerning adverse effects of DEHP at its limit of solubility to amphibians larvae over long term exposure.
