Additional information

Ferrous slags are formed at temperatures above 1400 °C. As ferrous slags are UVCB composed of several fused silicates of different chain length, they have no well-defined melting point but a melting range. The transition from solid state to the liquid state (melting) occurs at temperatures of 1100 - 1400 °C, being influenced e.g. by the exact composition of the slags.
