Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No reliable study with triple superphosphate is present. In a reliable study with single superphosphate the 3-hr EC-50 was determined to >100 mg/L with a NOEC of 100 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
100 mg/L

Additional information

No reliable study with triple superphosphate is present. However, in a reliable OECD 209 and EC C.11 guideline study, the respiration rate of the predominantly domestic sludge was determined after exposure to 100 mg/L single superphosphate for three hours. No significant inhibition of respiration rate of the sludge was recorded at this dose level (11% inhibition in first experiment, in the duplicate measurement no significant inhibition of respiration rate of the sludge was recorded). The substance was not toxic to waste water (activated sludge) bacteria at 100 mg/l (NOEC). Therefore, no further testing was needed. Hence, the EC50 of single superphosphate exceeded a loading rate of 100 mg/L.
