Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

Administrative data

Endpoint:
toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Justification for type of information:
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study does not need to be conducted because calcium is water reactive evolving hydrogen gas. In powdered form, the reaction with water is extremely rapid. In water reaction calcium is forming insoluble calcium hydroxide. In water solutions of acids where the salt is water soluble, calcium reacts vigorously. Calcium metal is classified hazardous (DSD) because of violent reactions with water and acids.
