Description of key information

No studies are available: a waiver is proposed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No studies are available and none are proposed. A waiver is proposed based on the chemical nature, rapid reaction with water to form sulphuric acid and the rapid and complete dissociation of sulphuric acid to form environmentally ubiquitous ionic species.

Sulphuric acid is a strong mineral acid that dissociates readily in water to hydrogen ions and sulphate ions (at environmentally relevant pH) and is totally miscible with water. The resulting hydrogen ions and sulphate ions are naturally present in water/sediment and no bioaccumulation of these ions is predicted. No further information is necessary.
