Description of key information

The toxicology of sulphur trioxide has been adequately described. The hazards associated with its corrosive or irritant nature (depending on the dilution) are known, and appropriate risk and safety phrases are in place.  The immediate reaction with water to form sulphuric acid and the subsequent dissociation to hydrogen and sulphate ions in water coupled with the ubiquitous nature of both of those ions in physiological processes render further testing unnecessary.
