T1 : time from application of the flame to a noticeable effect from the orifice. T2 : time from application of the flame to the end of the combustion without recorded event (e.g. explosion) as in these tests or to an explosion. Adipic Acid have been determined not to have thermal sensitivity to explosion under the conditions of the test.
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Adipic acid has been determined not to have shock-, friction- and thermal sensitivity to explosion under the conditions of the test (Rhodia, 2008).
Executive summary:

The determination of explosion properties of adipic acid was performed in accordance with the EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties). Adipic acid has been determined not to have shock-, friction- and thermal sensitivity to explosion under the conditions of the test (Rhodia, 2008).

Description of key information

Adipic acid have been determined not to have shock-, friction- and thermal sensitivity to explosion under the conditions of the test performed in accordance with the EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties)(Rhodia, 2008).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The results with respect to explosiveness for adipic acid are conclusive but not sufficient for classification.

The determination of explosion properties of adipic acid was performed in accordance with the EU Method A.14 (Explosive properties). In the shock test, no ignition and no explosion was observed. The friction and the thermal sensitivity test were carried out 6 times showing no positive test results.
