Description of key information

As the substance is readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria), hydrolysis is not expected to be an important fate path.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VIII section 9.2.2.1, a study on hydrolysis as a function of pH does not need to be conducted ifthe substance is readily biodegradable.1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (CAS 872-50-4) was experimentally determined to be readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria (see IUCLID chapter 5.2.1). Therefore, testing hydrolysis studies was not performed.

As the substance is readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria), hydrolysis is not expected to be an important fate path.
