Additional information

Testing for this endpoint has been waived in accordance with column 2 restrictions. The submission item category members do not contain elements such as carbon and hydrogen necessary for auto flammability in air.

Recent, reliable screening tests for self-heating conducted in accordance with UN method N.4 have demonstrated that both the solid salt form of ferrous sulphate and the solid salt form of ferric sulphate give a negative result. These salts are non-self-ignitable (at 140 °C using the modified Bowes-Cameron cage test), which is as expected for these non-combustible inorganic substances (Baltussen, 2010 studies 492704 and 494202). This conclusion applies for all members of the soluble iron salt category as both a ferric and ferrous salt representative served as test items..
