Additional information

Only one experimental study on bacterial mutagenicity of White liquor was available (the Key study). Other experimental results could not be found in an extensive literature search.

Short description of key information:
- There was no available data for White liquor concerning germ cell mutagenicity. Germ cell mutagenicity is not included in information requirements of Annex VII in REACH regulation.
- White liquor was not mutagenic in the Ames bacterial mutagenicity test with Salmonella typhimurium with and without metabolic activation according to the results in the Key study (EC 440/2008 B.13/14, OECD 471).

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification of is not possible due to the lack of sufficient human and animal data on White liquor and/or its components. Germ cell mutagenicity does not include in the information requirements of Annex VII in REACH regulation, applied for transported isolated intermediates.
