PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence

The substance was readily biodegradable in a screening test and is, therefore, not considered to be persistent.

Bioaccumulation

The substance does not bioaccumulate. It has a very low log Pow of less than -0.9 at 20° C.

Toxicity

The substance is classified as carcinogenic (Cat 2), mutagenic (Cat 2) and toxic for reproduction (Cat 3) and there is evidence of chronic toxicity relevant for classification as T; R48. The predicted No Observed Effect Concentration for freshwater organisms is based on acute algal toxicity of 32 mg/l. This results in a PNEC of 0.03 mg/l calculated using an assessment factor of 1,000, which can be considered as a long-term No Observed Effect Concentration. Therefore, the substance is considered to be toxic according to the criteria included in Annex XIII, paragraph 1.3.

Summary

The substance is neither persistent nor bioaccumulating but is toxic according to the criteria.

Hence, the substance is not PBT or vPvB
