Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A long-term study on the toxicity of methanol to the earthworm Eisenia andrei is available. Endpoints investigated were adult survival and reproduction.

Methanol showed no effects on survival at a concentration of 10000 mg/kg dw.An EC25 at day 63 of 17199 mg/kg dw is reported for reproduction.

A NOEC 63 d for reprodaction of 10000 mg/kg dw has been derived graphically from the plots representing the results for the applied soil concentrations.

In a study similar to OECD guideline 207 a LC50 (48h) >1 mg/cm2 was determined for Eisenia foetida (Roberts and Dorough 1984). In the study Eisenia foetida was used as the marker species to indicate the relative toxicities of several chemicals and other soil invertebrates. Based on the resulting LC50 value methanol was classified as relatively non toxic.
