Key value for chemical safety assessment

Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for soil dwelling arthropods:
1 000 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

The long-term toxicity of methanol to the terrstrial arthropode Folsomia candida was investigated in a test similar to the OECD Guideline 232 Collembolan Reproduction Test in Soil (Stantec, 2006). The endpoints addresssed in the study were adult survival and reproduction. No mortality after 28 days of exposure was observed at the highest tested concentration of 10000 mg/kg dw.The EC50 and EC25 for reproduction were respectively 5683 mg/kg dw and 2842 mg/kg dw at the end of the exposre duration. A NOEC 28 d of 1000 mg/kg dw for reproduction can be derived graphically from the plots representing the results for the applied soil concentrations.
