Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The particle size distribution of lead oxide CAS 1317-36-8 has been read across to lead tetraacetate. Mean particles size D50 has been measured as 13.77 µm. The mass median aerodynamic diameter of airborne fraction MMAD = 35.9 µm

Additional information

Read across of particle size distribution from lead oxide to lead tetraacetate is based on the following assumptions:

lead oxide is a yellow powder, whereas lead tetraacetate is imported and handled as a moist somewhat sticky crystalline powder. The MMAD of the airborne fraction of lead tetraacetate powder (if any airborne emission is produced) will therefore be much larger than the dry lead oxide powder as given above. The possibility of the airborne lead tetraacetate powder to decompose into lead oxides which, after drying, may develop dustiness is thefore included in this worst case.
