Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

EC number: 265-064-6 | CAS number: 64741-62-4 A complex combination of hydrocarbons produced as the residual fraction from distillation of the products from a catalytic cracking process. It consists of hydrocarbons having carbon numbers predominantly greater than C20 and boiling above approximately 350°C (662°F). This stream is likely to contain 5 wt. % or more of 4- to 6-membered condensed ring aromatic hydrocarbons.

- Name of activity / technique:
- PROC 8a: This activity specifically entails the maintenance and cleaning of the process equipment used to contain the substance at the site under the Generic Exposure Scenario system adopted by the Concawe Consortium; note that there is no specific PROC in ECHA chapter R12 for this activity. Employees are trained how to carry out this activity to ensure that exposures to man and the environment are prevented and/or minimised. The employees are specifically trained on, for example, how to drain down and/or flush or purge (e.g. with steam or nitrogen) the system prior to equipment break-in or maintenance. Drain-downs are expected to be retained in a sealed storage pending disposal or for subsequent recycle. The activity is only likely to be carried out with extract ventilation to points where emissions occur and/or the operation is undertaken outdoors. In addition the activity where exposure may occur is usually not carried out for more than 1 hour. In the event that any spill occurs employees are trained to clear the spill immediately using standard operating procedures.

- PROC 8b: Transfer of substance or mixture (charging and discharging) at dedicated facilities
- Name of activity / technique:
- Sampling of raw material for quality checks in laboratory
PROC 15: Note that this activity is not referring to use of the substance as laboratory chemical, but to quality control work in a laboratory on the substance as produced in the manufacturing plant. Laboratory work is expected to be carried out under local extract ventilation such as in a fume cupboard. Samples and laboratory waste are kept in sealed storage for subsequent recycling or disposal. - Process category (PROC):
