Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The viscosity of kerosine is 1 to 2.4 cSt at 40°C and 2.8 to 4.3 cSt at -20°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Viscosity values of 1 to 2.4 cSt at 40°C and 2.8 to 4.3 cSt at -20°C for kerosine were obtained from the Compilation of Selected Physico-Chemical Properties of Petroleum Substances (CONCAWE, 2010). The viscosity was measured for various kerosine substances according to the ISO 3104 and ASTM D445 methods.

The viscosity of kerosines was also obtained from the CONCAWE 1994 product dossier. The viscosity for straight-run and hydrodesulfurised kerosines (1.1 to 2.5 mm2/s at 20°C) and jet fuels (8.0 to 8.5 mm2/s at -20°C) was determined according to the ASTM D445 method. This study is classified as reliable with restrictions.
