Description of key information

Based on the results of the available fish acute studies Oncorhynchus mykiss were the most sensitive, an LC50 of 62 mg a.i./L and a 
NOEC of 25.6 mg a.i./L.

Acute fish toxicity studies are available for both rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus).

A 96 -hour GLP static acute fish test with Oncorhynchus mykiss was conducted in accordance with the USEPA 72-1 Fish Pesticide Acute Toxicity Test Guideline at nominal concentrations of 26, 43, 72, 120 and 200 mg a.i./L.

Survival of fish was monitored daily and any dead fish removed. Any abnormalities in the behaviour or physical appearance of the fish were also noted. The 96-hour LC50 based on mean measured concentrations was 62 mg ai/L with 95 percent confidence limits of 47.0 and 84.5 mg ai/L. The no-observed-effect concentration (NOEC) was determined to be 25.6 mg ai/L.

The 96-hour fish acute test with Bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus) was conducted in accordance with USEPA 72-1 Fish Pesticide Acute Toxicity Test Guideline at nominal concentrations of 26, 43, 72, 120 and 200 mg a.i./L.

The 96-hour LC50 based on mean measured concentrations was 151 mg ai/L with 95 percent confidence limits of 112 and 299 mg ai/L. The no-observed-effect concentration (NOEC) was determined to be 42.8 mg ai/L.
