Conclusions:
The lowest temperature giving a positive effect was 380°C. The injected volume was 400µl, the ignition delay was 2 s. At a temperature of 370°C no ignition was observed. Therefore the auto-ignition temperature of Amyl-salicylate is 380 ± 10°C.

The auto-ignition temperature of Amyl Salicylate was determined according to Method A.15, DIN 51794. At a temperature of 370°C no ignition was observed. The lowest temperature giving a positive effect was 380°C. The injected volume was 400 µl, the ignition delay was 2 s. The auto-ignition temperature was therefore considered to be 380 ± 10°C. The +/- 10 °C refers to the reproducibility of the method as specified by the guideline. According to the guidelines the lowest temperature giving a positive effect should be rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5 °C. However, since more temperatures in the range 370°C to 380°C were not tested a conservative value of 370°C has been chosen for the purposes of the CSA even though no ignition was observed at 370°C.
