Description of key information

An adaptation to the data requirements was included for this endpoint based on the substance not self-heating below 400 °C. The test material decomposes before it can self ignite.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Supporting information was available in the MSDS, WITCO (2000) and GELEST (2003) and also the summary provided in the dossier created for the harmonisation of the classification of the registered substance under directive 67/548/EEC. The information was only available as a short abstract and and although WITCO (2000) reports that the result was derived using EU Method A.16 the limited reporting meant that a detailed assessment could be made on the accuracy of the presented data. A reliability score of 4 was therefore assigned, in accordance with the criteria for assigning data quality in line with the principles described by Klimisch (1997). The auto-ignition temperature of the test substance was reported to be > 400 °C.
