Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Executive summary:

The substance was tested following OECD 209, activated sludge respiration inhibition test. The inhbition for a nominal value of the tested substance is equal to zero. The determined EC50 > 100 mg/l.

Description of key information

EC50 > 100 mg/l, nominal

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
100 mg/L

Additional information

A study (Clariant, 1997) was performed on a preparation containing Acid Black 210 potassium salt. The tested substance did not show any respiration inhibition and the EC50 ( equal to NOEC) is > 100 mg/l.

Another study (BASF, 1988) tested Acid Black 210 sodium salt. The item was tested up to 10g/l without showing any respiratory inhibition with EC0 > 10g/l.

The results of the two studies are consistent and Clariant results have been chosen for CSA as the most conservative value.
