Conclusion
The available experimental test data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation 1272/2008. The substance 2-ethylhexyl trans-4-methoxycinnamate (OMC) is rapidly degraded. The short-term toxicity studies for algae, daphnia and fish resulted in no short-term (acute) aquatic toxicity within the limit of water solubility. The lowest long-term result of NOEC (72 h) ≥ 30 µg/L was determined for the freshwater fish Danio rerio. The log Pow was determined to be > 6 at 23 °C. Based on these results, OMC is not classified for aquatic short-term (acute) toxicity, but for aquatic long-term (chronic) toxicity Category 2 (H411: Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects) according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the 17th time in Regulation (EU) 2021/849.
