No effects of the test substance on terrestrial organisms are expected.

Additional information
No studies on long-term terrestrial toxicity are available for this substance, but due to the properties of the substance a hazard to soil organisms is assumed to be low. In accordance with column 2 of EC 1970/2006 Annex IX the effects of terrestrial organisms need not to be tested if a direct and indirect exposure to the soil compartment is unlikely. Direct exposure to the soil is not reported. Fatty acids, C8-10, Me esters (CAS 85566-26-3) is readily biodegradable and indirect exposure of soil organisms through sludge application can be ruled out. Regarding the low water solubility (0.3 mg/L) it is not likely that the test substances can be found in the aquatic environment in high concentrations and therefore an application due to floods and irrigation can be ruled out and if the substance is exposed to soil, Fatty acid esters are metabolised in Fatty acids and alcohols. These components occur in sediment and soils naturally, are part of physiological pathways and can be used as energy source. The enzyme carboxylesterase is omnipresent in organisms, readily degrading this test substance. Thus, toxic effects caused by the metabolites of fatty acid esters are implausible.
In conclusion, due to a) the lack of chronic exposure and b) the acknowledged metabolisation of fatty acid esters, toxic effects to terrestrial organisms can be excluded.
