Endpoint 001

In the acute immobilization test to Daphnia magna (STRAUS) the effects of the test item were determined according to OECD 202 (2004). Daphnia were exposed to water solutions of five different concentrations form 0 -100 mg/L. Observations were made at 24 and 48h of exposure.

48-hour EC50for Daphnia magna was estimated to be 35.4 mg/L (95 % confidence limits: 25.0 - 50.0 mg/L).

NOEC after 48 h was assessed at 25.0mg test item/L.

The LOEC was determined to be 50.0 mg test item/L.

The observed effects at the concentration levels 100 and 50.0 mg/L are caused by the low pH.

Endpoint 002

Based on the nominal concentrations of the test item Magnesium fluorosilicate hexahydrated the 48 h-EC50 for Daphnia magna was 70.7 mg/L (95 % confidence limits: 50.0 – 100 mg/L). The NOEC after 48 h was 50.0 mg/L. The LOEC after 48 h was 100 mg/L.

The effects observed at the concentration level of 100 mg/L were caused by the low pH-values (pH below the recommended range of pH 6 – 9). This was confirmed by the pH-neutralised concentration level of 100 mg/L which caused no effects on Daphnia magna. Based on the pH-neutralised concentration the 48-h NOEC for Daphnia magna was 100 mg/L.
