Description of key information

not explosive; EU method A.14, GLP

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Explosive properties of Epoxy half acrylate were determined according to EU method A.14.

Thermal Stability:

The DSC-measurement in a closed glass crucible with the test item showed three exothermal effects. A first small exothermal effect with an energy of 21 J/g could be observed in the temperature range of 85 – 155 °C, directly followed by a big two stage exothermal effect in the temperature range of 155 – 430 °C with an overall energy of 1004 J/g.

The decomposition energy of the test item in the closed glass crucible was above 500 J/g. Due to this fact the test on explosion properties was performed.

Mechanical sensitivity (friction):

This test had not to be performed, due to the fact, that the test item is a viscous liquid.

Mechanical Sensitivity (Shock):

No explosion within 6 tests using a mass of 10 kg falling from a height 0.4 m was observed.

Thermal sensitivity:

Three tests with a circular nozzle plate with a hole of 2 and three tests with a circular nozzle plate with 6 mm diameter were performed.

The test item has no explosive properties in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008 method A.14.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test item has no explosive properties in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008 method A.14.
