Description of key information

With high probability not harmful to aquatic algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since no test data on the acute aquatic toxicity of the reaction mass of 2-methylbutyl acetate (CAS 624-41-9, ca. 33%) and pentyl acetate (CAS 628-63-7, ca. 66%) containing isopentyl acetate (< 2%) as impurity are available a conclusion by analogy approach to a highly similar mixture of the two major components (primary amyl acetate) has been applied. In this GLP study performed according to OECD guideline 201 an ErC50 (72 h) value > 466 mg/L for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined [Dow 2003]
