Experimental results are available from a study conducted to determine the phytotoxic effect of ethyl chloroacetate on seeds of different types of plants in a greenhouse, after spraying the plant substrate. After a 14 days test duration, the following shoot fresh weights (in % of controls) were followed:

5 kg/ha

White mustard (Sinapsis alba): 125; Ray-grass (Lolium multiflorum): 83; "Sticky herb" (Galium aparine): 100; Maize (Zea Mays): 112; Oats (probably Avena sativa): 104.

10 kg/ha

White mustard (Sinapsis alba): 120; Ray-grass (Lolium multiflorum): 96; "Sticky herb" (Galium aparine): 70; Maize (Zea Mays): 104; Oats (probably Avena sativa): 90.

However, no analytical monitoring was conducted during the study. Therefore, there is no evidence that the concentration of the substance was maintained during the test.
