Description of key information

In an acute toxicity to Fish test, the following values were obtained after an incubation time of 96 h:
LC50 >100mg/L
LC0 >= 100mg/L based on nominal concentration

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water fish

Fresh water fish
Effect concentration:
100 mg/L

Additional information

In a 96-h acute toxicity study, Medaka (Oryzias latipes) were exposed to tetrahydromethylphthalic anhydride at a nominal limit concentrations of 100 mg/L under flow through conditions. The EC50 and NOEC values, based on mortality/sublethal effects, were> 100 and >= 100 mg a.i./L, respectively. Sublethal effects were not observed in the groups exposed to 100 mg/L of tetrahydromethylphthalic anhydride. Based on the results of this study, tetrahydromethylphthalic anhydride would not be classified according to CLP (GHS and 67/548/EEC).

This toxicity study is classified as acceptable and satisfies the guideline requirement for acute toxicity to fish study.
