Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Study design
- Details on sampling:
- - Geographic coordinates: Lake Pepin (natural flood plain lake of the upper Mississippi River)
- Known emission sources near sampling site: Waste water treatment plant discharges about 10 m3s-1 of treated wastewater to the Mississippi River. Point-source discharges from metropolitan areas.
- Period of sampling: Surface sediments and select biota from the aquatic food web were collected as part of a 5-year monitoring program. Sampling period: 2011-06-07 to 2011-10-05.
- Sampling: Surface sediments were collected from 12 locations using a stainless steel mini-box corer. Mayfly larvae were collected from the same 12 locations using a Ponar grab sampler. Zooplankton were collected by horizontal tow and fish were collected using gill nets.
- Sample storage before analysis: Sediment samples stored at 4°C in the dark. Mayfly larvae, zooplankton and fish were rinsed and then stored at -20°C.
- Other: Personnel were prohibited from using personal care products known to contain siloxane materials on days of sample collection.
