Description of key information

HF is highly reactive and, once released into the environment, is unlikely to remain in its original form for any significant length of time. HF will rapidly dissociate in aqueous conditions to form hydrogen and fluoride ions and will further be transformed in air, water, sediment and soil to a variety of other fluorine-containing compounds.
