Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One non-GLP (DIN/ISO 9001 certified) study according to ISO 7346-1 is available investigating the short-term toxicity of fatty acids, C16-18, 2-hexyldecyl esters (CAS 101227-09-2) to the freshwater fish Brachydanio rerio (Gode, 2001). Nominal test substance concentrations of 1000, 3000 and 10000 mg/L were added directly to the test vessels without a further filtration step. A static exposure regime was chosen. The oxygen concentrations could not be maintained > 60% during the study. Oxygen concentrations of 47-96% were recorded during the study. But this did not affect the outcome of the study since no mortality occurred after 96 h. Thus, a LC50 of > 10000 mg/L (nominal) was derived. Based on this result it can be concluded that no toxicological short-term effects on fish are expected up to the limit of water solubility for fatty acids, C16-18, 2-hexyldecyl esters.
