Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on the readily biodegradability status of the substance, the CSA demonstrates safe use for the water and sediment compartments. Therefore half-life data from simulation tests is not required to further refine the exposure assessment.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance, Benzyl salicylate has been shown to be readily biodegradable and, according to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, it is unnecessary to perform surface water or sediment simulation tests for substances that are readily biodegradable. The identification of degradation products is also not required.
