EC number: 293-263-8 | CAS number: 91053-01-9 A complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained from distillation of the butadiene-free C4 fraction of a naphtha steam-cracking process. It consists predominantly of olefinic hydrocarbons having carbon numbers of C8, C12, C16 and C20 and boiling in the range of approximately 170°C to 185°C (338°F to 365°F).

Description of key information
Data on physical properties were obtained from a number of proprietary sources. The data in these sources are based on a critical evaluation of the data and the selected values are considered to be reliable and representative of the property under investigation. Information in the review process was documented in the introduction of the source. The use of Klimisch codes (Klimisch et al., 1997), was extended to these sources and a reliability code was assigned.
Review of the collated information indicates that streams are liquid at room temperature with a flash point of < 71.0°C (C8) to 112 °C (C12) at a pressure of 101.3 kPa, vapour pressure range for this Category (C8 – C16) was 9.4 to 110 hPa at temperatures in the range 20 - 37.8°C.
The flashpoint of and boiling points of the category members indicates that members of this category with C12 and above would not be classified. The C8 and below streams are classified as flammable liquid category 3.
