Description of key information

According to the classification scheme of McCall et al. (1980) for estimation of chemical mobility in soil from HPLC retention times, glyoxal has high mobility in soil.

Adsorption to the solid soil phase is not expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
2.1

Additional information

The Koc of glyoxal was measured to be 2.1 (log Koc = 0.32) (BASF, 1996).
