Description of key information

Chlorine has strong oxidising properties and is therefore only soluble in organic solvents that could not be further oxidised or are completely chlorinated. Data for selected solvents were given (polar and non-polar solvents) and the influence of temperature on the solubility of chlorine is given. Accuracy is not always defined, but data are thought to be reliable at +/-3 %.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
