The 96-h LC50 value is 560 mg/L in guppy (Poecilia reticulata).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP-compliant study according to OECD Guideline 203 with guppies (Poecilia reticulata) was available (Duphar B.V., 1992b). All guppies exposed to 1000 mg /L died during the first 3 days of the study. Of the guppies exposed to 750 and 500 mg/L 80% and 40% died during the test, respectively. At lower concentrations no significant mortality occurred. Compound related effects (hypoactivity and uncontrolled movement) were observed at 250, 750 and 1,000 mg/L during the whole test period. As the mortality in the controls was not more than 10%, the study meets the validity criteria. The 96-h LC50 of 560 mg/L in fish will be used in the assessment.
