Additional information

Two tests on the biodegradation of Methylionone are available. The ready biodegradability of the substance was tested in a study conducted in accordance with OECD guideline 301F. After an incubation period of 28 days a degradation by 76 % based on O2consumption was determined (Givaudan 2000). In a second test system, also set up according to OECD guideline 301 F, the influence of Methylionone on the O2consumption of activated sludge was determined. The test was terminated after 28 days of incubation and a degradation rate of 40 - 50 % was determined (BASF AG, 1996).

Based on the more recent OECD 301F study (Givaudan, 2000), Methylionon can be considered to be readily biodegradable.
