Biodegradation

The reference substance D-C16 was investigated for ready biodegradability in a closed bottle test according to OECD method 301C.

From the degradability results based on the BOD (av. 6%) and that of the residual amount of the test substance (av. 11%), it is concluded that the test substance is not readily biodegradable. No transformation product is generated under the conditions of this test as shown by comparison of IR spectra before and after the test.

Since all criteria for acceptability of the test were met, this study was considered to be valid.

In conclusion, D-C16 is designated as not readily biodegradable.

No further studies on biodegradation are available and not required at the tonnage band of 1 - 10 T/a.

Bioaccumulation

No studies on bioaccumulation of the substance are available. Given the n-octanol/water partitioning coefficient, the substance has a potential for bioaccumulation.

Adsorption/desorption

No studies are currently available.
