Description of key information

In a 72-hours static algae growth inhibition test the EC10 and EC50 values based on growth rate inhibition were determined to be 8.08 and 24.1 mg/L, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
24.1 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
8.08 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity of the test item to the green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined according to OECD 201 and EU Method C.3. The 72-hours study was conducted under static conditions in a closed system. Nominal test concentrations were: 6.25, 12.5, 25.0, 50.0 and 100 mg/L and the corresponding mean measured concentrations after 72 h were: 1.05, 13.3, 26.4, 50.9 and 100 mg/L. Based on growth rate, the EC50 value was determined to be 24.1 mg/L, the EC10 value was found to be 8.08 mg/L (determined from measured concentrations).
