Additional information

Fatty acids, C8-10, octyl esters (CAS 91031-98-0) is considered readily biodegradable. Experimental data on the biodegradability of the substance are not available. The assumption is based on a read across to the analogue substances Based on the test results of an OECD 301 study conducted with the main component octyl octanoate (CAS 2306-88-9) and on QSAR calculations (Biowin v4.10). Based on the ready biodegradability in water rapid degradation of the substance in aquatic and terrestrial environments is expected. Thus, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, column 2, 9.2.1.2. - 9.2.1.4., further simulation tests on biodegradability in water and sediment or soil are not necessary.
