Description of key information

Daphnids were exposed to 0, 5.6, 10, 18, 32 and 56 mg/L substance during 21 days. Renewal of the test solutions was done daily. No effects on immobility and reproduction were found at 18 mg/L and below. The analyses for accuracy of preparation at the NOELR that the actual concentrations varied. The worst case average measurement was taken as the NOEC (0.84 mg/L).

The NOELR is 18 mg/L.

Studies on three trophic levels performed on a water accommodated fraction are available, all indicating an LC/EC50 above water solubility.

For the test substance the daphnia study on a WAF indicated no toxicity was observed at loading rates up to 56 mg/L (Harlan 2013). The NOEC in the algae study based on measured concentrations was 2.1 mg/L (measured concentration 0.12 mg/L). For algae an ELr50 of 3.1 mg/L (ca. 0.36 mg/L based on measured concentrations, study performed with WAF, Harlan 2013)).

The loading rate of 3.1 mg/L from the algae study was used in a limit test in fish. No mortality occurred in the 96 hour test period (Harlan 2015). Therefore it was concluded that algae are the most sensitive strain. The ErC50 from this study, which is ca. 0.36 mg/L will be used as starting point for the derivation of the PNECaqua.

A test on toxicity to microorganisms gave a NOEC of 1000 mg/L (Harlan 2015).
