Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No effect up to the limit of the water solubility was observed. Thus, the EC50 is expected to exceed the water solubility (< 1 mg/L) of Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, hydrogenated, 2-ethylhexyl esters.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

As no tests are available for this endpoint for Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, hydrogenated, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 68440-06-2), a read-across approach to the structurally very similar Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, hydrogenated (CAS No. 68783-41-5) was conducted.

One GLP study conducted according to OECD guideline 209 over a period of 3 hours with activated sludge of a predominantly domestic sewage is available for Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters. Concentrations up to 100 mg/L were directly added to the test medium. Despite the low water solubility of the test substance (< 1 mg/L) no Water Accommodated Fractions were prepared for the test. No effects were observed under conditions tested up to limit of the water solubility. Thus, the test substance has only a low toxicity for activated sludge microorganismsandno inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge in sewage treatment plants is anticipated.

Thus, only a low toxicity of Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., dimers, hydrogenated, 2-ethylhexyl esters to activated sludge microorganisms is expected.
