Conclusions:
The surface tension of an 1 % aqueous solution of the test item was determined to be 53.6 mN/m.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted according to OECD TG 115, Regulation (EC) No 440/2005 Part A, A.5, ASTM D1331-11 and ISO 304 (1985) to determine the surface tension of an aqueous solution of the test item using the ring method. Therefore a saturated solution of the test substance in ultrapure water was prepared in by adding 1 g of the test substance to 1 L of ultrapure water. After 24 h of stirring at 20 °C a sample was centrifuged in a temperature controlled centrifuge at 20 °C (-3540 g, 20 min) in order to remove undissolved, excess test substance. 45 mL of the clear solution were transferred to the measuring vessel, and diluted to 90 % with 5 mL of ultrapure water. The solution allowed stabilising at the test temperature (20 °C). The surface tension was determined to be 53.6 mN/m at 20 °C. It was considered that the test item is surface active (surface tension < 60 mN/m).

Description of key information

Additional information

A study was conducted according to OECD TG 115, Regulation (EC) No 440/2005 Part A, A.5, ASTM D1331-11 and ISO 304 (1985) to determine the surface tension of an aqueous solution of the test item using the ring method. Therefore, 90% of the saturated solution of the test substance in ultrapure water was prepared. The surface tension was determined to be 53.6 mN/m at 20 °C. It was considered that the test item is surface active (surface tension < 60 mN/m).
