Description of key information

The toxic effect of the test item L-phenylalanine to Daphnia magna was assessed in a semi-static limit-test. At the nominal concentration of 100 mg/L of the test item L-Phenylalanine, no effects were observed on Daphnia magna. The 48-hour NOEC was determined to be 100 mg test item/L. The 48-hour LOEC was determined to be > 100 mg test item/L and the 48-hour EC50 value was determined to be > 100 mg test item/L. L-Phenylalanine did not show short-term toxicity to Daphnia magna.

Additional information

The toxic effect of the test item L-phenylalanine to Daphnia magna was assessed in a 48 h semi-static acute immobilisation test. At the nominal concentration of 100 mg/L of the test item L-phenylalanine, no effects were observed on Daphnia magna.

L-Phenyllanine did not show short-term toxicity to Daphnia magna in a GLP guideline test. It can be concluded that L-phenylalanine does not exhibit short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates.
